The complete first edition set of the TMG collector cardsOne advantage to running a design laboratory and think tank over a traditional graphic design and branding firm, is that you have been enabled to dabble. Yesterday, we conducted a little experiment.
A couple of days ago, I posted an entry concerning the MOO cards that we designed for our sister company, Tiny Mind Gazette. We took these cards, divided them into sets, packaged them up and send them to 15 people that we have tagged as key EYMER DESIGN evangelists.
The following letter was included in the package:
---
Dear (their name here) ::
As a special friend of our design laboratory + think tank, I have you sent you the first edition of our TINY MIND GAZETTE collector cards. We encourage you to keep the ones that you like.
For the ones that don’t quite meet your own personal standards, please haphazardly distribute them in places where they might attract the wandering eyes of those who habitually pick up unusual objects. (consider this chore guerilla marketing, NOT littering)
The GAZETTE serves a few purposes ::
- It is a social media and blogging petri dish for experimenting with new
online products and services
- Through careful experimentation and study, we are able to gain expertise –
before we sell these services to our clients
- We have developed a collaborative meeting place where creatives
are encouraged to come and play (i.e. RECESS)
- Ultimately, we no longer hang out at the convenience store, playing KENO
and buying scratch tickets
Thank you in advance for your personal distribution services.
We truly couldn’t do it with you!

the packagingI will gladly keep you posted regarding the outcome, as well as the effectiveness of the bait.
Enjoy the sun!
